We offer financial support, access to unique teaching experiences and permanent employment as a teacher through the following scholarships and grants.

Aspiring Teacher Grant

Who it’s for?

Year 12 graduates from Queensland schools

What’s in it for you?

One-off payment of up to $5,000

Beyond the Range—Professional Experience Grant

Who it’s for?

Third or fourth year undergraduate and first or second year postgraduate Initial Teacher Education students (preservice teachers)

What’s in it for you?

A one-off grant up to $5,000 (per semester)

Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarship

Who it’s for?

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Initial Teacher Education students (preservice teachers)

What’s in it for you?

Up to $40,000 (before tax) and permanent employment when you graduate

Regional Professional Experience Grant

Who it’s for?

Third or fourth year undergraduate and first or second year postgraduate Initial Teacher Education students (preservice teachers)

What’s in it for you?

A one-off grant of up to $3,400 (per semester)

Regional, Rural and Remote Graduate Teacher Scholarship

Who it’s for?

Final year Initial Teacher Education students (preservice teachers)

What’s in it for you?

Up to $15,000 (before tax) and permanent employment in a regional, rural or remote location when you graduate

Supported Pathway into Teaching

Who it’s for?

Department of Education Teacher Aides studying an Initial Teacher Education degree

What’s in it for you?

From Term 3 2023, special leave with pay to undertake compulsory practical placements and an offer of permanent employment when you graduate. Details on how to apply will be available on this website soon

Turn to Teaching Internship Program

Who it’s for?

Career changers with a degree/postgraduate Initial Teacher Education students (preservice students)

What’s in it for you?

Up to $20,000 (before tax), a paid internship and permanent employment

Trade to Teach Internship Program

Who it’s for?

Career changers/individuals with a trade qualification

What’s in it for you?

Up to $20,000 (before tax), a paid internship and permanent employment

We also offer a range of scholarships for existing teachers, students and non-teaching staff.

These include:

New: Commonwealth teaching scholarships

The Australian Government is offering 5,000 scholarships for new teaching students studying full time from 2024. They will be targeted at high-achieving school leavers, mid-career professionals, First Nations peoples, people with disability, people from whom English is an additional language or dialect and individuals from rural, regional and remote locations or from low socio-economic backgrounds.

Scholarships of $40,000 each will be available for undergraduate full time teaching students over four years and $20,000 for postgraduate full-time students over two years.

Students completing their final year professional experience placements and wanting to live and work in remote communities may receive an additional top-up payment of $2,000.
